I use head phones because I am going deaf in both ears and I can't turn my TV too loud haha. Using head phones to sit still and wait for the slightest sound kind of defeats the purpose it makes the game slow boring and cheap. I have a friend that waits for pixel displacement so he can pin point enemies and people says he cheats it's amusing. I have to agree with you though people who use something to give themselves an edge are hindering themselves more then they are helping.
