I have to disagree with you. As I stated in one of my replies, which you may or may not have read - this I understand, I took to a match using only a pistol and got overall third in a lobby of decent players. The match was just as glitchy, but even so, I was able to more effectively kill people with a pistol - a semi-auto weapon - in spite of this; or maybe because of it. I do not know. The point is that I was failing with everything else I generally use, until I decided to give the SMGs a try and then this other match with the GRACH MP-443.
To be honest, I tried the pistol because I had a similar idea as yours and expected some very crazy moments to come out of using a semi-auto, but was surprised when all the crazy moments befell the enemy players every time they tried using their Rippers and Bulldogs against me with my stupid handgun.
